My Favorite Easy Turkey, Cucumber, and Basil Breakfast
Some days I want a meal that feels fresh and satisfying without requiring any actual cooking. This turkey, cucumber, and basil wrap plate has become one of my favorite breakfasts when the weather starts warming up and I don't want to spend extra time in the kitchen.
It's simple, high in protein, full of fresh garden flavors, and takes only a few minutes to put together. Best of all, it leaves me feeling energized instead of weighed down for the rest of the morning.
What I love most about this breakfast is how easily it fits into a busy day. Whether I'm working, gardening, writing, or just trying to avoid turning on the stove, I can have this meal ready in less than five minutes.
What You'll Need
4 ounces Oscar Mayer deli turkey breast
1 Cracker Barrel cheese stick
½ medium cucumber, sliced
1 medium tomato, sliced
Fresh basil leaves
Optional additions:
Mustard
Freshly ground black pepper
A splash of balsamic vinegar
How to Assemble
Arrange the cucumber and tomato slices on a plate. Tear or leave the basil leaves whole and scatter them over the vegetables.
Take slices of turkey breast and wrap them around pieces of cucumber, tomato, and basil. I like to slice up the cheese stick and place it inside the wrap too.
If you'd like a little extra flavor, spread a thin layer of mustard on the turkey or drizzle the vegetables with a small amount of balsamic vinegar.
That's it.
Why I Keep Coming Back to This Meal
When I started paying more attention to how different foods made me feel, I realized that breakfasts that were heavy in bread or processed leaves me sluggish and reaching for more food later in the day.
This plate gives me plenty of protein while still feeling light and refreshing. The cucumber and tomato add crunch and freshness, while the basil makes it feel like something special rather than just another turkey sandwich.
It's also a great way to use fresh basil from the garden during the summer months. If your basil plant is producing faster than you can use it, this is an easy way to enjoy those harvests without needing a complicated recipe.
Garden-to-Table Tip
If you're growing basil at home, try harvesting a few leaves just before making this. Freshly picked basil has an incredible aroma and flavor that completely changes this simple meal.
Sometimes the simplest meals are the ones that remind us why we started gardening in the first place.
Fresh ingredients, minimal effort, and a moment to slow down and enjoy what we've grown.
